Why this panel

Autoimmune disease is difficult to diagnose and often takes years. This panel casts a reasonable first net — general inflammation, the two broadest autoantibody screens, and the most common autoimmunity of all.

💡 What most people missA positive ANA is not a diagnosis, and this is the most misunderstood result in medicine. Roughly 10–15% of entirely healthy people have a positive ANA, and the rate rises with age. It is a sensitive but very non-specific test — useful for ruling conditions out, poor for ruling them in. A positive ANA with no symptoms usually means nothing at all, and the anxiety it generates causes real harm. Meanwhile the most common autoimmune disease by a wide margin is autoimmune thyroid disease, which is why TPO and TgAb are here — they're far more likely to be the actual answer than ANA is.
⏰ When to get it drawnAny time. Note any current infection — it transiently raises inflammatory markers and can produce a temporarily positive ANA.
