How DAO (Diamine Oxidase) actually works
Supplemental diamine oxidase acts entirely within the gut lumen, degrading dietary histamine to imidazole acetaldehyde before absorption. It is a protein and is itself digested — it does not enter circulation and does not lower systemic histamine. That single fact defines what it can and cannot do.
