Does AHK-Cu actually work on skin?

Human clinical evidence
- Much less studied than GHK-Cu. Most claims are extrapolated from its copper-peptide cousin rather than tested directly.
- The trial that would settle it has never been run: a split-scalp comparison against minoxidil, or against GHK-Cu alone, over a full hair cycle. Until someone does, AHK-Cu is a mechanistically reasonable addition to a routine and not a replacement for the one drug in this space with real data.

- Used in scalp and hair-density products, often alongside GHK-Cu. Reported experience is slow and modest.
How the mechanism reads
- Copper tripeptide-3 (Ala-His-Lys-Cu). Same copper-delivery premise as GHK-Cu but oriented toward the follicle — proposed to support dermal papilla cells and follicular microvascularisation.
- Small enough to penetrate, like GHK-Cu. The gap is evidence, not plausibility.
- The interesting difference from GHK-Cu is vascular rather than structural. AHK (alanyl-histidyl-lysine) is proposed to act on the follicle through VEGF and dermal papilla signalling — the blood-supply side of hair growth — where GHK-Cu's argument is collagen and matrix remodelling. That is why the two are usually run together rather than chosen between: they are aimed at different halves of the same problem.
How to use AHK-Cu (Raw)
This is a raw active, not a finished product: you are buying the ingredient to formulate with. It needs a vehicle, a sensible concentration and a pH that suits the molecule before it does anything at all. Same copper rule as GHK-Cu: not in the same layer as direct vitamin C. The two copper peptides are fine together — they are aimed at different halves of the follicle. What working looks like: a full hair cycle, so three to six months before any honest read.
